Our bodies are designed to function best when they maintain an optimal pH balance between acidic and alkaline states.
Have you been feeling sluggish lately? Are you having trouble losing weight, despite your best efforts? Do you look in the mirror and see someone who looks older than their age? These symptoms may be less about what’s eating you and more about what it is you’re eating.
Our bodies are designed to function best when they maintain an optimal pH balance between acidic and alkaline states. Unfortunately, most of us eat and drink our way into over-acidity, which can weaken the body’s systems and compromise our cellular health.
What Does pH Balance Mean?
pH Balanceeffects everything from healthy cells to cancer cells to soil quality and ocean life is affected bybalanced pH. The body maintains a delicate acid-alkalinebalance. Your body’s pH (potential of hydrogen) is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity in your system. The body continually strives to BALANCE it’s pH. When the balance is compromised, many problems in our health can occur. Your pH ratio is measure on a scale of 0-14, the lower the pH the more acidic and the higher the pH the more alkaline. As you can see by the graphic, a health body pH range between 6.0 and 7.5
Balance is everything…. Proper pH varies throughout your body for many reasons. For example, your bowels, skin and other parts of the body should be slightly acidic–this helps keep unfriendly bacteria away. Saliva is more alkaline. Urine is normally more acidic, especially in the morning. In addition, your body regularly deals with naturally occurring acids that are the by-products of respiration, metabolism, cellular breakdown, and exercise. So clearly the goal is not to think of acid as “bad” and alkaline “good”. Again, it’s a delicate balance.
For optimal cellular health, your blood pH must be slightly alkaline with a pH between 7.365 and 7.4. A basic understanding of how our bodies maintain an alkaline blood range is important for good health. Your body doesn’t just “find” the balance it works extremely hard to create it. When we make poor lifestyle choices or are burdened by a toxic, chemical rich environment, our bodies have to work harder to create homeostasis (Body In Balance).
Not only do we eat and drink foods and beverages that are highly acidic-such as meant, grains, processed foods and sweets as well as alcohol, coffee and soft drinks-we are also ingesting more toxic chemicals in the form of prescription medications, artificial sweeteners and other poisons. We also must contend with environmental contaminants and pollutants in the air we breathe. All these toxins take a toll on our own bodies and compromise our natural pH balance.
I am putting poison in my body?
A diet that is high in acidic foods and beverages can cause a host of unwanted problems such as weigh gain, headaches, depression, lower back pain, muscle stiffness, sluggish digestion and constipation, allergies, aging skin and more. Over-acidity can also lead to more serious health problems such as osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes, inflammation, cancer, heart disease, colon disease and acidosis.
Instead of trying to FIX the aliment, why not try attaching the potential root cause for these ailments first??? You have NOTHING to lose and EVERYTHING to GAIN!
When we are out of balance and in a state of over-acidity, our bodies will struggle to restore our cellular health. Unfortunately, it does this by STEALING nutrients from our bones, organs and muscles in order to neutralize the acids and restore homeostasis (BALANCE)
Over time, this leads to compromised immune system and that’s when problems begin to occur.
Experts believe that to maintain health, your diet should consist of 60 percent alkaline-forming food and 40 percent acid-forming foods. The problem is that the standard American diet (SAD) consists of about 80 percent acid-forming foods and 20 percent alkaline-forming foods.
Inflammation and disease flourish more readily in acidic bodies-and that’s exactly what the SAD produces. When we’re on the go, we tend to choose fast food, processed and pre-packaged food, sugary soft drink and other “food shortcuts” that do not count as “real food” in an alkaline-forming diet.
“Keep Calm” get more Alkaline
Given that our on-the-go lifestyles make it hard to eat enough alkaline foods such as leafy greens and other vegetable, it may seem like an impossible goal to balance your body’s pH. But there is a little-known secret to doing this easily and conveniently.
It may seem counterintuitive, but lemons-while chemically acidic-are extremely alkaline-forming in the body. Few other foods are as naturally alkaline as the lemon, which has a pH of 9.0 and sits at the top of the alkaline food chart.
This is why it’s a great idea to supplement your daily diet with lemons or other alkaline producing products. This daily habit helps to cleanse your digestive system, infinite your metabolism and neutralize excess acids.
Lemons can give your body what it needs to fight over-acidity and restore your natural pH balance. In return, your body will gift you with increased energy, beauty and vitality.
